Changes

George Mueller says, "God never takes anything away from His children, unless He intends to give them something better." There are times when that is hard to believe, but I know that God wants what is best for His children and there is nothing that happens in our lives that is not for our good. I am now back in the States......not what I planned to do, but when God closes a door, he has another one open somewhere.....in the meantime, I do not want to waste one day in self-pity or condemnation. The Lord is so faithful and I am more in love with Him than ever. As the song goes, "Now more than ever, I cherish the cross, more than ever I sit at His feet. All the miles of my journey have proved my Lord true, and He is so precious to me!"

Trusting for the Showers

In February of 2008, Brother Gilbert preached a message on Elijah on the Mount Carmel praying for rain, and then seeing a cloud the size of a man's hand, after which he told Ahab to get back to Jezreel because there was the "sound of abundance of rain". He shared that he felt that was God's word for the church here. A week later, Dale Schmucker came to Honduras for a surgery. On the plane, He asked God what word there was for the church in Honduras and the phrase "there is a sound of abundance of rain" came to his heart. It was really exciting to have that word confirmed. Here we are, nearly a year and a half later, still waiting to see it fulfilled. This morning, there were alot of "mercy drops" but how we plead for the showers!

On an earthly plane now, I did get my second quilt finished and am enjoying it! I thought Mom and maybe a few others would enjoy seeing a picture of it.

Twelve Year Anniversary

My three week project: Mabel's quilt, my mom pieced it, and I got to quilt it.I enjoy quilting, but I have had to wait for batting, and then till I got a quilt frame made. Mabel is very happy! Good job, Mom! I'm so proud to have your sewing prowess to look up to.

I haven't met these dears yet, though I have talked to them on the phone! I can hardly wait to see them, along with Phil & Mary Jean, their sisters, and the rest of my family.

This is the one I am working on now....for my bed!

Today, it is twelve years since I moved to Honduras. If I could have known then what I do now (or at least THINK I know now) I would have been able to avoid a lot of mistakes. But God uses so many things in our lives to mold and shape us and make us more like Jesus.

I'm so glad that the God I serve is a kind Father. One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11, "I know the thoughts that I have toward you, thoughts of good and not of evil; to give you hope and a future." I have several versions mixed together there, but I love the way God plans our lives for our good.

Unsung Heroes

               http-equiv="CONTENT-TYPE" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> name="GENERATOR" content="OpenOffice.org 2.0 (Win32)"> name="CREATED" content="20090425;19012800"> name="CHANGED" content="20090425;19362400">

I would like to pay tribute in this post to the unsung heroes, the “behind-the-scenes” people, who actually are the ones making things click and roll the way they are supposed to. I believe that in Heaven, their's will be the greater reward. People who are there to pray and care and listen, but who are not often given recognition.

Especially I want to mention the board that is behind the mission here at Life, Light and Love Home. We were privileged to have three of the board members with us this weekend, and I feel like they have given me a new lease on life. Just simple, wonderful people serving in the capacity that God has called them to. And to the rest of the board: Thank you for your selflessness in praying, supporting, making tough decisions, and just plain “being there” for us.  It means more than you will ever know.

Paul Newswanger (PA), Nate Schwartz (IN), Omar Stoltzfus (PA)

Also, speaking of unsung heroes, this post would not be complete without mentioning my Mom and Dad. They have been such a steadfast “wall” that I can lean on, (even from this far away, Mom!) and I am eternally grateful for their prayers and encouragement. I couldn't find a better set of parents in the entire world. I love you!!

My brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Mary Jean, are another couple who has great rewards waiting in Heaven for their faithful love, discernment, and uncompromising friendship to me. I love you!

My other siblings have been very supportive, as well, and Matt, I am convinced that you are one of the greatest of unsung heroes! I can never repay all the things you have unselfishly bestowed on me, but I know Someone who has seen every penny and does not take it lightly! I love you!

I would dearly love to include up-to-date pictures of my family. Unfortunately, I don't have any recent or good ones on my computer. Something that must be remedied this fall.

I wasn't able to get a picture of Orlando's household, and I would have liked to post a picture of Carolyn, the new school teacher, but I didn't get that done, maybe next time!

Netting the pond for fish to sell for Semana Santa. The children enjoyed splashing to chase the fish into the net.DSCF9102 DSCF9048 DSCF9065

Tyler and Weston helping to scoop the fish out of the net into the barrel. We had two different days of "fishing". One day, I had been in Teguc, renewing my residence, and when I got home at 7:30 PM, had a half hour to change and get my mind in gear for butchering fish. We gutted and cleaned fish until 12:30 AM, but we were able to make a little bit of money to help out funds around here, which is always a blessing!

Our "semana santa" picnic down by the "river". The children had fun splashing each other and Orlando and Keith. Here the boys are in the "floaty" with baby Jeremiah.

Have a great month in Jesus! This is not much of an update, but it took so long to upload the pictures, that I don't have time to write much. But we are alive, well, and busy! God is faithful and we are blessed to serve Him!
